  • Received B.A. Degree in Speech, English, and Secondary Education from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan
  • Completed a year of graduate work in Speech Pathology at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan
  • Completed Masters Degree in Speech Pathology with a minor in Psychology at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky
  • Received a Ph.D. in Education with a focus on reading and cognitive psychology at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan
  • Accredited by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • Certified member of the ASHA since 1975
  • Holds a Continuing Education Certificate with the state of Michigan in Speech Pathology, Public Speaking, and English


  • Has been in private practice since 1978
